This meeting was held in Geneva, 18 and 19 May 2016, under the theme of 'The Future of Nursing and Midwifery'. Participants at the meeting discussed gaps and needs for enhancing nursing and midwifery leadership in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Universal Health Coverage (UHC), the Global Strategy on Human Resources for Health: Workforce 2030 and the Strategic Directions on Strengthening Nursing and Midwifery 2016–2020 for the appropriate management of thr nursing and midwifery workforces.
The new Global Strategic Directions for Strengthening Nursing and Midwifery 2016-2020 and the Roles and Responsibilities of Government Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officers were launched at the event.
