The ninth annual U.S. News Best Global Universities ranks leaders in key academic subject areas, in addition to ranking 2,000 of the world’s top universities overall. UTS’ Australian Artificial Intelligence Institute ranked third highest from a total of 142 universities researching AI across the world.
For the first time, artificial intelligence has been included as a distinct subject area within a total of 47 subjects. To place UTS’ AAII at number three in the world, U.S. News assessed AAII’s academic research performance from bibliometric measures based on data from the Web of Science, which covers more than 21,100 of the most influential and authoritative scholarly journals worldwide.
Ranking methodology and weighting differed between each subject. For artificial intelligence, as with three other new subject areas, rankings were solely based on academic research excellence: performance data drawn from bibliometric measures including publications and total citations.
