Associate Professor Hannah Wardill, Gut Dysfunction Symptom Node Subcommittee Chair

Our research is focused on eight symptoms under the direction of seven Symptom Node Subcommittees (SNSCs). Each SNSC brings together members and invited experts to brainstorm future investigator-led clinical trials in the symptom of interest. Our goal is to achieve better symptom management and improved quality of life for people with cancer or other life-limiting illnesses.

  • Appetite and cachexia
  • Breathlessness and sleep
  • Cognitive and neurological disorders
  • Fatigue
  • Gut dysfunction
  • Nausea
  • Pain

Each SNSC leads a program of work that may including conducting idea-generating workshops, writing grant proposals and developing new clinical trial protocols. They receive support form the PaCCSC and CST teams, including our experienced Research Assistant-Writers.

Expressions of interest

Researchers, clinicians and consumers with an interest in palliative care and/or cancer symptom management are invited to express interest in joining an SNSC.

This is an excellent opportunity to extend your personal research profile as part of a collaborative research team, while contributing to better quality-of-of-life outcomes for patients and families.

Requirements

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • you have an interest in joining a SNSC and collaborating on a research program investigating one or more symptoms and its impacts on people with cancer or in palliative care
  • have capacity to be committed and engaged to support the work of the node

Time commitment

  • Term of membership: two years
  • Meeting schedule: quarterly 1-hour meetings.

If you have any questions of would like to express interest in joining an SNSC, please email cst@uts.edu.au.
