Building ubiquitous radio sensing infrastructure

Testbed for perceptive mobile networks based on massive MIMO.
Low-cost, easily-deployed devices underpin the future of radio sensing. This project is delivering pioneering infrastructure known as Perceptive Mobile Networks, which integrate radio sensing into mobile communications. We are partnering with several industrial partners to develop key enabling techniques for these ubiquitous sensing networks, ready to unleash the maximum power of mobile networks, avoid significant infrastructure costs and enable numerous applications rendered impractical or too costly by current solutions.
Integrated miniature video and radio sensors for 3D sensing and object tracking

Device for integrated miniature video and radio sensing.
In this project, our researchers are developing innovative techniques and a prototype system that integrates a video camera and miniature radio sensor for 3D sensing and object tracking. The expected outcome is a brand new portable low-cost and low-complexity 3D sensing and tracking device that overcomes many of the limitations of current portable 3D sensing and tracking systems to offer countless new applications, extended working range, and new object detection and tracking capabilities in the presence of long term occlusion.
WiFi sensing for smart home: an integrated solution for health, safety and security
Our researchers are developing an integrated solution for health, safety and security for smart home applications, using standard WiFi signals for device-free WiFi sensing in object and behaviour recognition, biomedical signal extraction (such as breathing patterns), gesture recognition, and localisation and tracking. We are developing reliable, robust solutions capable of through-wall sensing and multiple-object tracking in a wide range of applications, working with leading industry partners including iOmniscient Pty Ltd.
