UTS Impact Studios joins the CSJI team
The Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion has welcomed UTS Impact Studios to the team.
It will now have a permanent home at the Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion, where it will become an important part of furthering UTS’s social justice agenda through advocacy and engagement.
Its latest podcast, Life’s Lottery: Backing Kids, explores how we can create a society where all children can thrive. Hosts Glyn Davis and Jeni Whalan from the Paul Ramsay Foundation join advocates, experts, children and their parents and caregivers to discuss their bright and practical ideas about how we can improve kids’ health and wellbeing.
All six episodes have now been released. The episodes include a deep dive into the Federal Budget’s impact on the realisation of children’s rights, how young First Nations voices have informed policy development to improve the lives of First Nations kids, and how place-based, universally accessible services could better reach vulnerable families and improve the wellbeing of all children.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Social Justice & Inclusion Verity Firth says that Impact Studios will be an important part of the work of the Centre.
“I am really excited that Impact Studios will be joining us at the Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion. Impact Studios brings academic rigour to social justice issues and disseminates these to a broad audience that we may not have been able to reach otherwise.
“I have really enjoyed listening to Life’s Lottery: Backing Kids. The evidence is there that we need to invest in all our children, regardless of their backgrounds.”
UTS Impact Studios was established in 2019, initially as a two-year pilot of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President (Research), to unlock academic research through engaging and accessible podcasts.
