Sydney Smart Technology College banner

Co-founded by Northeastern University and UTS in 2020, the Sydney Smart Technology College (SSTC) offers a range of articulation programs with the UTS Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering and IT that are approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE).

About the Sydney Smart Technology College (SSTC)

UTS has partnered with Northeastern University (NEU) to create the Sydney Smart Technology College (SSTC), located at NEU’s campus in Qinhuangdao.

SSTC offers pathways into the UTS Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in relevant majors and the UTS Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences (Statistics and Data Science) UTS Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics degree. Enrolment is open to about 20 provinces and municipalities in China.

SSTC students undertake Years 1 and 2 of their degree at NEU in Quinhuangdong then gain a global outlook by completing Years 3 and 4 at UTS in Sydney. SSTC students graduate with a bachelor’s degree from NEU and UTS, preparing them for exciting global careers.

SSTC programs and pathways

  • 2+2 Bachelor program with Double Bachelor's degrees (“2+2” Pathway)
    After two years of study at SSTC in Quinhuangdong, eligible students can apply to continue their studies at UTS for two years. Upon completion of their studies and meeting the relevant conditions, students will receive a bachelor's degree from both Northeastern University and from UTS. Students with excellent results can apply directly to pursue a PhD at UTS and other universities in Australia.
  • 3+2 Bachelor Master program (“3+2” Pathway)
    After completing three years of study at SSTC in Quinhuangdong, eligible SSTC students can apply to continue their studies at UTS for two years. Upon completion of their studies and meeting the relevant conditions, students will receive a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University and a master's degree from UTS.

About Northeastern University (NEU)

Founded in 1923, Northeastern University (NEU) is one of the national key universities under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education. It is featured by glorious patriotic tradition, sound discipline structure, academic excellence and distinctive characteristics in technological innovation and international teaching patterns.

As one of the first batch of “Project 211” and “Project 985”, NEU has participated in the building of first-class universities under the approval of the State Council in 2017. In its development of nearly a century, NEU, by keeping pace with the trend of national development and rejuvenation, has cultivated various kinds of excellent talents for the country and the society, and has made great contributions to the national economic and social development.

Northeastern University at Qinhuangdao (NEUQ), a component of NEU, has about 10000 full-time undergraduate students and 900 graduate or doctoral students. Adhering to the concept of “One family, one dream; Strive together, share with each other”, NEUQ, benefiting from NEU’s resources ranging from scientific research teams, projects and platforms, vigorously undertakes the key programs of “211 project” and “985 project”. It integrates itself into the building of the world-class university of NEU and the pace of globalization by introducing international advanced educational concepts and high-quality educational resources. Students may have access to 60 overseas study projects.
