Human Technology Institute | Data Science Innovating Student Success
Empowering Impact: Every Student Finishes School Well
Despite a wealth of research and boosts in funding, inequality in educational outcomes persists.
Thrive: Finishing School Well is a cutting-edge research-in-action partnership that connects world-class mathematical statisticians, computer scientists and social scientists to identify what students of all backgrounds need to thrive at school and finish high school well.
The initiative is grounded in causal machine learning methodologies (the Bayesian paradigm), uncovering uncertainties and synthesising rich longitudinal quantitative and qualitative research - government datasets, case studies, community experience.
This innovative collaboration between the Human Technology Institute at University of Technology Sydney, Western Sydney University and the NSW Department of Education, funded by the Paul Ramsay Foundation (PRF) seeks to uncover the pathways that provide each student the resources to thrive in education and beyond.
The knowledge generated will inform policy decisions, enabling the design and implementation of more effective educational programs to support all students to finish school well, irrespective of the barriers they face.
