About us

The Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) is part of the Faculty of Health and is recognised nationally and internationally as a Centre of excellence in health economics. Our areas of expertise include economic evaluation and health technology assessment, applied econometrics, discrete choice experiments, health outcome measurement and policy evaluation.

About the Role

CHERE is currently recruiting for a Senior Research Fellow/Medical Advisor to play a vital role in supporting our program of work in economic evaluation and health technology assessment (HTA). This includes undertaking independent research, commissioned work and performing critical appraisal of health technology assessments. A key component of the role will be evaluating submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and preparing health technology assessment reports for the Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) or other HTA agencies.  You will also contribute to the design and conduct of clinical trials, providing expert clinical input and advice, including medical and data monitoring.  You will be experienced in analysing and interpreting clinical trial and patient data.

You will provide critical expert clinical input into the development and conduct of research projects, apply principles of clinical epidemiology to inform health technology assessments and contribute to the development and delivery of teaching programs.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate actively in funded research across the Faculty of Health, particularly with IMPACCT (Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation).

You will work independently and as part of a team on key research project tasks under the direction of your supervisor and other senior members of CHERE. You will have the opportunity to produce high quality research papers, reports and presentations and to enhance your own scholarly standing.

About You

You will have a degree in medicine or equivalent, with significant research experience in your area of expertise, along with project management experience and skills in writing grant applications. Post-graduate qualifications in clinical epidemiology or public health will be highly regarded.

You are also an excellent communicator and have the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative networks throughout the university as well as nationally and internationally.
