Supervision
An important influence on your overall experience of postgraduate research study will be the relationship with your supervisor. The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) Code of Practice for Supervisors, Advisors and Research Degree Candidates outlines student and supervisor responsibilities and rights.
Each student works with a supervisory panel that consists of a minimum of two supervisors; a principal supervisor and an alternate (also sometimes known as a co-supervisor). The panel may include an industry advisor or academic from another Faculty or institution (where applicable at a particular stage of the candidature).
In the Faculty of Science, all Principal Supervisors must be internal tenured academic staff with qualifications equivalent to the degree they are supervising. Alternate or co-supervisors may be external to UTS.
