New 2SER managing director appointed
Broadcast expert Cheryl Northey will take the reins of community radio station 2SER.
The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Macquarie University are pleased to announce the appointment of Cheryl Northey as Managing Director of radio station 2SER (Sydney Educational Broadcasting Ltd).
2SER, a community radio station, is jointly owned by Macquarie University and UTS.
Cheryl has over 15 years’ experience in international digital media, news and entertainment companies including Network 10, the ABC, SBS and Deutsche Welle.
Cheryl has held former roles at the Community Broadcasting Australia Association and the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project and is currently a Sector Investment and Advisory Committee member for the Community Broadcasting Foundation.
Cheryl’s education includes a Bachelor of Communication (Media Arts and Production) and an Executive MBA from UTS.
“I’m looking forward to joining 2SER and shaping the vital role it plays in supporting independent, diverse and innovative music, news and content that connects with and amplifies Sydney communities,” Cheryl said.
Cheryl will begin in the role on 2 December 2024, succeeding Paula Kruger who is leaving the station after two years.
Paula led 2SER through a phase of organisational change, enhancing its resilience for the future. The 2SER Board expressed its gratitude to Paula for her contributions over the past two years. Her professionalism and dedication have been invaluable to the station, and they wish her success in her future endeavours.
