Dist. Prof CT Lin honoured with top UTS award for years of outstanding research.
AAII Co-Director, Distinguished Professor CT Lin, was honoured with the 2024 Chancellor’s Medal for Research Excellence at the award ceremony hosted by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Kate McGrath, on 10 Mar 2025. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding research at UTS, demonstrating sustained excellence at the highest level over the years.
For three decades, Professor CT Lin has led new research directions, invented fuzzy neural networks (FNN), created high-resolution wearable EEG devices, and pioneered Brain-Computer Interface technology for applications in safety, healthcare, disability, industry, and defence.
His innovations help combat chronic pain, aid blind people, control artificial limbs and assistive robots, detect fatigue, and assist individuals in mastering complex and high-risk situations through human-machine teaming.
His ability to evolve his research and apply his latest discoveries and innovations to new frontiers demonstrates his creativity and sustained excellence in research.
Notably, this marks the second time since 2019 that an AAII researcher has received the Chancellor’s Medal for Research Excellence, reaffirming AAII's ongoing contributions to pioneering research and dedication to research excellence.
