Arshpreet is in her final year studying a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in Public Health at UTS. She is passionate about public health and addressing the health disparities within vulnerable populations. Arshpreet has applied knowledge directly from her studies to conduct literature searches on the background of ethics for the Faculty Development Survey.
As an intern at WHO CC UTS, Arshpreet’s role included directly contributing to significant projects and programs, such as preparing for the Fast Track Program Workshop for Strengthening Health Workforce Education in Papua New Guinea project in June 2023. Arshpreet participated in several activities for the PNG workshop, including creating sign-in sheets and certificates for all the attendees, drafting set housekeeping rules, and organising resources and documents utilised during the workshop.
WHO CC UTS has been elected as the secretariat for Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery (GNWHOCCNM). Arshpreet assisted in collating and organising data in Excel and Word for the GNWHOCCNM database, Summarise Terms of References (ToR) for all the collaborating centres. Her assistance was invaluable in the publication of the LINKS Magazine, a magazine published on behalf of the secretariat of the global network. She also took part in reformatting the GNWHOCC website and reviewed, re-organised and updated information on the collaborating centres part of the Global Network.
Arshpreet thoroughly enjoyed her placement at WHO CC UTS, as it has given her a direct outlook into what her career may entail after completing her studies. She is grateful for the team at WHO CC UTS that provided her with this unique opportunity of working within an international organisation.
Arshpreet is confident that she will be utilising the invaluable skills and experiences learnt at the Centre towards developing her career as a future employee of the public health sector.
