Transport

ISF developed a strategic transport plan to improve sustainability associated with staff and student travel to UTS from places of residence, work-related travel and UTS vehicle fleet operations. The project involved establishing baseline data to improve the UTS greenhouse inventory; identifying initiatives to reduce the costs and impacts of travel; and development of a Transport Access Guide. The strategic plan includes key principles; objectives; actions to achieve the objectives; and measures for monitoring and evaluating changes.

Climate Change

The strategy documented existing greenhouse abatement initiatives undertaken by UTS, established energy and greenhouse targets and included an action plan for achieving those targets. The strategy coordinated input from several other processes, including an energy audit of UTS, a target-setting process undertaken through the Australian Technology Network of Universities and the UTS Campus Development Plan.

Paper reduction

The paper reduction strategy contributed to the objectives of the UTS Strategic Procurement Initiative by streamlining purchasing, increasing purchasing power and reducing costs.

These three strategies were foundational for UTS’s operational sustainability activities. ISF also assisted the UTS Green Team in their 2016 update of the UTS Sustainability Strategy by running a series of staff and student consultation sessions to inform the strategy update.
