The National GreenPower Accreditation Program was established in 1997, with the mission to increase awareness of, and ensure consumer confidence in, environmentally sound Renewable Energy products.
In 2014, its managers, NSW Trade & Investment through Division of Resources and Energy asked ISF to perform an extensive review of the program, to ensure the program's effectiveness and relevance in the then-current and emerging energy and environmental policy and regulatory context, while also taking into account consumer behaviour and industry conditions.
To do this, ISF facilitated a series of future-focused engagement processes with GreenPower retailers, generators, customers and other key stakeholders to comprehensively evaluate the Program for the first time in its long history. Activities included the development of an Issues Paper that outlined an initial evaluation of the Program, stakeholder forums to develop a future vision for the program, stakeholder interviews and a public consultation period. The Final Report provided detailed recommendations for program improvements.
