Whether you’re looking for a tutor, conversation buddy, or industry professional to answer career-related questions, UTS offers a number of mentoring and networking programs to help you make meaningful connections.
Connections that count
Make the most of your time at UTS
Get involved in our vibrant community of staff, students, volunteers and industry partners and make the most of your time at UTS.
HELPS Buddy Program
Our HELPS Buddy Program matches international students with students, staff and local community volunteers for conversation practice. For international students, it’s a great way to improve your listening, pronunciation and fluency in an informal, Australian way. For volunteers—make friends, develop your communication skills and learn about other cultures and languages while you help your buddy connect through conversation.
Professional Mentoring Platform
The Professional Mentoring Platform is a university-wide, online community designed to bring volunteer mentors (professionals and alumni) and mentees (UTS students and recent graduates) together for mentoring experiences. The informal nature of the platform allows mentees to connect with mentors based on similar interests, aspirations and affiliations. No awkward introductions. No long-term commitment.
Study Groups
UTS Study Groups is a 6-week program run Autumn and Spring session that introduces you to students starting uni at the same time as you. Each week you’ll meet with an experienced Student Guide for an opportunity to socialise, learn skills that will help you ace your studies, and get advice and insider tips about student life!
While you won’t actually be opening a textbook, you will be set up with all the tools and connections you’ll need to make the most out of your time at uni.
