Why setting goals for 2025 starts today
Have you ever set New Year’s resolutions but given up by the end of January?
If you have, you're not alone.
One of the core reasons people often fail at New Year’s resolutions is because they’re set for the sake of tradition rather than in response to a need or time of change.
So, if you’re feeling antsy and in need of a life refresh, there’s no point waiting for 2025 to start working toward your goals – let’s start now!
Finding your ‘why’
The best place to start when creating new goals would be to find your ‘why’. Achieving your goals is so much easier when they’re connected to a reason or purpose personal to you.
A great way to visualise your ‘why’ is to write out the core elements of your dream life and instruct AI to write a ‘day in the life’ story based on what this would look like.
You can also use an app like Canva to create a picture collage of your ‘why’ and set this as your phone or laptop wallpaper.
These tools can help motivate you along your journey by connecting your goals to the bigger picture.
Setting SMART goals
Once you’ve defined your ‘why’, you can start developing goals that align with what you want to achieve and how you can get there.
Using the SMART method is a great way to create goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely (SMART).

Expect obstacles
No matter how simple your goal might seem, it’s important to be prepared for setbacks.
If your goal is to go for a run outside every morning, what will you do if it’s raining?
To keep you on track, identify obstacles and create plans to overcome them.
How about a run on the treadmill instead?
Creating good habits
It’s important to remember that no goal is going to be achieved overnight and that’s okay!
Making permanent changes to your lifestyle starts by making good habits and establishing a routine.
Habit tracking is a great way to monitor your daily behaviours and measure your progress towards what you want to achieve.

It doesn’t matter how slowly you go as long as you stay consistent.
