Student Partnership Agreement to enhance student experience
Work has begun on UTS’s first Student Partnership Agreement (SPA).
The first of its kind at a NSW university, the agreement will provide a tool for UTS student leaders and staff to work together to enhance the quality and betterment of your student experience.
Working hand-in-hand with Student Rights and Responsibilities principles and informed by the UTS 2027 strategy, the SPA will encompass academic and non-academic activities – from learning and teaching to your experiences with ActivateUTS’s clubs and UTS Students’ Association services.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education and Students), Professor Shirley Alexander welcomed the development of the new agreement.
“UTS has always valued student voices, and has always sought to include and elevate the multiplicity of student perspectives on boards and committees, and through formal and informal contributions to decision-making.”
“The SPA will strengthen this engagement by making a strong statement of commitment to the students who contribute to decision-making at UTS,” Professor Alexander said.
Professor Andrew Parfitt, Vice-Chancellor and President agreed it's an exciting initiative.
“Partnership and collaboration are core values at UTS.”
“It is only through partnerships that our communities can thrive economically, socially and culturally.”
“It is through the cultivation of close working relationships between students, staff and other key stakeholders that we can achieve our common goal of being a leading public university of technology recognised for our global impact,” Professor Parfitt said.
Work on the SPA will continue over the coming months and will be co-signed by student leaders and senior staff later this year.
The SPA is led by Academic Board student member for Law, Kurt Cheng, in collaboration with Jin Liu, President of ActivateUTS, and Anna Thieben, President of the UTS Students’ Association, and will be negotiated with Professor Shirley Alexander, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education and Students) and Professor Andrew Parfitt, Vice-Chancellor and President.
