You will no doubt be aware of the deeply troubling situation unfolding in Israel. We are appalled at the violence taking place in the region and we share the concerns expressed by the international community.
The very graphic images and videos shared across news networks and on social media are distressing and drive home the very human cost of this long-running conflict. In particular, we recognise that members of our community who have family and friends in Israel and Palestine may be dealing with acute stress and fear. UTS condemns all violence, particularly that perpetrated against innocent civilians.
We understand that people have strong and differing views about the conflict. UTS supports public discourse even around contentious matters, and our staff and students have the right to express their opinions. Our campuses are a safe environment, so we ask that any discussions you engage in are respectful and free from discrimination. UTS does not tolerate hate speech in any form.
We encourage anyone who needs support to seek help via our available channels.

The UTS Counselling Service has counsellors available. Please phone 02 9514 1177 to make an appointment or email Student.Services@uts.edu.au. Please let receptionists know if you are requesting an urgent appointment.
The UTS Counselling Service can also make referrals to STARTTS, who provide culturally relevant psychological treatment and support to help people and communities who have been affected by trauma.
