Enriching the student experience
UTS Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) announces new student representative advisory group to support and enhance the student experience at UTS.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education and Students), Professor Kylie Readman has announced a new advisory group made up of student leaders from UTS Council, ActivateUTS Board and the UTS Students Association.
Upon announcing the new advisory body, Professor Readman said ‘Genuine student partnerships enrich and accelerate students’ experience and success at university. Inviting the student representatives to meet with me regularly to talk through these issues and imagine a range of solutions together is an important way to directly hear and engage with students'.
The Student Representative Advisory Group will provide advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students) on all matters relating to the student experience, from teaching and learning to student services and extracurricular activities.
The advisory group includes:
- UTS Council members Kurt Cheng (Undergraduate) and Peter Munford (Postgraduate)
- ActivateUTS President Sami Urquhart
- ActivateUTS Vice-President Ishaan Verma
- UTS Students Association President Nour Al Hammouri.
UTS Students Association President, Nour Al Hammouri said, “With the rising cost of living and students relying on our services, I’m looking forward to working on how we can best support our student community in a challenging environment for the sector, and society more broadly”.
UTS Council members Kurt Cheng and Peter Munford welcomed the announcement, “the student experience is central to our success as a university. We’re proud to strengthen our collaboration to deliver on the priorities of the Student Partnership Agreement and drive our collective success towards UTS 2027”.
The group builds upon the commitment set out in the UTS Student Partnership Agreement signed in 2022. Detailing a mutual agreement upon a set of strategic priorities, the group will enable the delivery of initiatives aimed at enriching the student experience.
ActivateUTS President Sami Urquhart and Vice-President Ishaan Verma, said, “We’re excited to see students taking up everything our clubs, venues and events have to offer. We look forward to shaping what the future student experience might look like outside of the classroom”
The group will meet regularly throughout the year and plan to report back to the student body on updates
UTS student representatives will also be on hand at mobile offices throughout the session.
