12 clubs to join during O’Week
O’Week (Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 February) is right around the corner, so we’ve rounded up the hottest clubs and societies on the market. And, if by some chance these don’t interest you, check out the 180-plus established clubs and societies on the ActivateUTS website.
1. Bubble Tea Appreciation Society
Calling all bubble tea lovers! Whether you're a Gong Cha or Chatime fan, The Bubble Tea Appreciation Society is uniting all boba lovers. You'll get the chance to go on bubble tea adventures, hunt down the best bubble tea places in Sydney and make new friends who share the same love for bubble tea as you!
2. StartUp Link
StartUp Link is all about breaking into the entrepreneurial scene at UTS. This professional development club holds a range of events focusing on recruitment, networking and skill-development to best equip you with the knowledge to (hopefully) secure a job or internship at some of Australia's top start-ups.
3. Literary Society
Book worms unite! If you like to read, write, listen, and spend more money than necessary on new books, LitSoc is the club for you! You can expect regular book meet ups, social events, themed reading lists, they truly are 'lit'.
4. Bouldering Society
Whether you're a first-timer or an experienced climber, the Bouldering Society has made it's debut at UTS for climbers of any skill level to join. Their goal is to connect students at all different stages and improve together. Keep an eye out for their casual climb events at different bouldering gyms throughout the year!
5. The Animaton Guild
The Animation Guild is hot off the press and are dedicated to all things animation. The goal? To bring students together to socialise and develop their careers in the animation industry. They’ve got big plans this year, so if you’ve got a creative spark, check them out.
6. Palestinian Youth Society
Determined to show true Palestinian pride, PalSoc's purpose is to not only connect UTS Palestinian students on campus, but to showcase their vibrant culture to the UTS community. Anyone up for knafeh?
7. Cafe Club
Did someone say brunch? Discover some of Sydney’s most delicious cafes with the Café Club. The brand-new club is here to share their love for coffee, croissants and avocado smash. Prepare yourself for coffee dates, barista workshops, café hopping and a whole lotta brunch.
8. Built Environment Association
Built Environment Association, or BEA for short, are a professional and personal development club for students in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building. Through networking opportunities and workshops, this society aims to positively impact the built environment around them by pushing the creative boundaries. Sign on up if this is you.
9. Art Society
Art Society brings together students who want to explore their creativity, and are keen to find like-minded people who appreciate art together! They pride themselves on having a social community of creative students who help each other improve on their art skills. You can look forward to gallery and museum visits, art competitions (with prizes!), workshops and more!
10. Persian Society
Persian Society are all about representing the Persian Culture at UTS! Whether you're Iranian, Australian, or just want to learn more about Persian culture, the society is here to show UTS what Persian pride looks like! Expect Persian New Year, new friends, and lots and lots of food.
11. The Big Lift
The Big Lift (TBL) are a student-led volunteering organisation that run a trip through regional Australia every July. Through their unique volunteering-based events, they aim to show how fun and rewarding it is to give back to others, while allowing students to meet diverse and like-minded people. So, if volunteering with 79 other students on a 9 day road-trip sounds like fun, jump on board!
12. Pokémon Club
Keen to catch them all? Now you can, with your new friends at the Pokemon Club. Expect lots of games nights, new friends, and a shared love for all things Pokemon!
