About the Speaker
Kim is currently the Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Museum. In her role Kim has initiated many programs such as free general admission for children into museums, creating new galleries, and establishing the Australian Museum Centre for Citizen Science.
Kim was previously the Director of Momentum2, a Sydney based social and sustainability marketing consultancy in media, social and sustainability marketing. The agency has worked on behalf of the National Geographic Society, Qantas, the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and many others.
Prior to this she spent seven years working in the United States for the Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channels International, where she was Senior Vice President Global Marketing & Communications.
Kim was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2008 for distinguished service to the environment and the community, recognising her work in co-founding Clean Up Australia and Clean Up the World. She was awarded the Australian Geographic Lifetime Achievement Award in Conservation and was named on the Australia Financial Reviews list of the 100 Women of Influence.
She serves on the board of the Sydney Institute of Marine Science Foundation, as well as the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Science Advisory Panel, the Australian Museum Foundation, and is Secretary of the Australian Museum Trust.
Kim was awarded the UTS Chancellor's Award for Excellence in 2010, and currently serves on the UTS Vice-Chancellor’s Industry Advisory Board. She previously served on the UTS Business School’s Industry Advisory Board. Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) from UTS, and is an Honorary Adjunct Professor at the Macquarie University Graduate School of Management.
