This Brain Robot Interface for Physical Human Robot Collaboration project aims to discover new knowledge of cognitive conflict and develop models and algorithms that enable intuitive physical human-robot collaboration to jointly conduct laborious tasks in complex, unstructured environments. This project is to build on responses in the human brain when a robot does not operate in a way the human expects and build an innovative brain-robot interface.

Some of the key elements this project will have focus on are:

  • Developing a new deep neural network to extract a cognitive conflict biomarker.
  • Develop a reinforcement learning algorithm to adapt robot based on cognitive conflict.
  • Design and develop an online brain-computer interface system for robot.

Learning opportunities

  • Passion in AI (Artificial Intelligence) and new Technologies in AI
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Familiarity with Python and matlab
  • Problem Solving
  • Basic knowledge of Machine Learning

Applicable knowledge

This project would suit 3rd and 4th Year students.

How many places are available?

There are three (3) student positions available.

Why is this important?

The Brain Robot Interface for Physical Human Robot Collaboration project will focus on the Biomarker to indicate the user's feelings toward the robot, and work on machine learning algorithms for biomedical signals with a real-world based brain computer interface.
