Bio-informed Hexapodic devices explained
express your interest
In this project, multiple hexapodic robots for various applications will be explored and designed. Legged robots, such as hexapods, with high degree of freedom and flexibility offers the chance of risk-free assessment of the area. These robots are flexible enough to walk through confined spaces. They are also very stable in different surfaces due to their structure and which makes them also very suitable for space missions. Exploring how termites (cockroaches) as opposed to ant’s walk has shown interesting features of quiet controlled walking.
Some of the core areas of the project will provide the student the opportunity to:
-
Explore various applications of legged robots, especially Hexapods.
- Explore the possibility of adaptive learning in robots.
Learning opportunities
- Mechatronic
- Electrical engineering
- Programming skills
Applicable knowledge
This project is suitable for 4th year students.
How many places are available?
There are four (4) student positions available.
Why is this important?
The project will provide an opportunity for learning Computer-Aided Design and 3D printing. There is also an opportunity for learning hands-on engineering product development and machine learning, as well as research excellence in the field of Bio-inspired robotics.
