New Business Analytics Advisory Board announced

2 September 2022

A newly established Business Analytics Advisory Board will deliver industry expertise across the breadth of the Analytics program at the UTS Business School.

The six-member board, which is helmed by data analytics expert Dr Alex Antic, draws together high-profile analytics, artificial intelligence, data and public policy experts from a range of leading companies including LinkedIn and CBA.

The board will perform numerous functions, including establishing new links between the UTS Master of Business Analytics and strategic industry, government and community partners. Board members will also identify future opportunities for analytics research and program development and help build a strong data culture within the Business School.

In a rapidly changing field like business analytics, it’s really important to maintain frequent touchpoints with industry in order to keep pace with change.

“An industry advisory board, particularly one with such high calibre members, will support us to do this in an effective, strategic and meaningful way," says Dr David Bond, Director of the UTS Master of Analytics.

The board will deliver significant opportunities for both students and industry alike. Students in the Master of Business Analytics, UTS’s flagship postgraduate analytics degree, will benefit from the wealth of industry connections that board members bring to UTS. The board’s strategic insights will also future proof the Analytics program by identifying the skills and capabilities required in this rapidly evolving field.

For industry, the board represents a genuine opportunity to strengthen the UTS talent pipeline and provides reassurance that a UTS Analytics qualification delivers both academic rigour and industry relevance.

“Given the increasing adoption of analytics and AI technologies across all sectors and domains, and UTS’s reputation and strength in collaborating with industry, the advisory board is a natural step in helping bridge the gap between academia and industry,” says Board Chair Dr Antic, who was recently appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the UTS Business School.

The board will further ensure that graduates can hit the ground running with a toolkit containing all the relevant technical and non-technical skills that make them stand out as highly valuable employees.
