UTS is recognised as an affiliated university under the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) University Affiliation Program.
CFA University Affiliation Program
CFA Institute is affiliated with select universities around the world that have embedded into their degree programs a significant percentage (more than 70%) of the CFA® Program Candidate Body of Knowledge. Our affiliation with CFA Institute dates back to 2008 when our Bachelor of Business with a major in Finance program was the first undergraduate program in Australia to be recognized in such a way.
Currently, UTS participates in the CFA University Affiliation Program based on both the Bachelor of Business with a major in Finance and the Master of Finance degrees. This recognition and affiliation signals that the degree’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well suited to students preparing to sit for the CFA® examinations.
CFA Institute is a global association of investment professionals with more than 170,000 members in 164 countries. CFA Institute publishes research, conducts professional development programs and sets ethics-based professional and performance reporting standards for the investment industry. They also offer a range of educational services across the world, including the CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst®) Program which specialises in portfolio management and investment analysis. The CFA® Program is an educational program that entails a series of three exams, with each level offered multiple times a year. It is widely considered as the investment profession’s most rigorous credentialing program with less than one in five candidates enrolling in the program ultimately successful in earning the CFA® Charter.
To become a member of the CFA you must complete three exams. Each exam requires approximately 300 hours of preparation and study materials are provided by CFA as part of the examination fee. From 2021, Level I exams will typically be held four times a year and Levels II and III will be held twice per year. As part of the university affiliation program UTS is able to offer a limited number of scholarships to UTS students which covers part of the exam fee.
