2021 Finance Honours student awarded University medal
Congratulations to Jonathan Choong, UTS Finance Honours graduate
Jonathan Choong, 2021 Finance Honours graduate, was awarded the University medal at his recent graduation ceremony. To be eligible to be awarded a University medal, the recipient must have the highest average grade across their course and be judged to be of exceptional merit by the selection committee. This award highlights the exceptional achievements Jonathan has made through his studies at UTS.
Jonathan was also a recipient of the 2021 UTS Business School Finance Honours scholarship and the the 2021 Pendal Group Honours internship and scholarship. This internship lead to him being appointed as an Investment Research Analyst with Pendal Group on completion of his Honours year.
As an indication of why he received this exceptional award you might want to read his Honours thesis “Impermanent Loss and Price Discovery: Are Automated Market Makers a Sustainable Exchange Model?”.
Automated market markers (AMMs) are a new decentralised exchange model that has grown to a multi-billion-dollar market; yet, it is unclear whether they are an economically robust and sustainable market type. The findings from Jonathan's thesis provide evidence that AMMs are a sustainable model for facilitating digital-asset trading, which benefits liquidity providers and protocol developers.
