The effect of bushfires on air quality
The recent bushfire emergency in New South Wales and Queensland has highlighted the devastating effect on communities directly impacted by the fire.
As the article by Assoc. Prof Brian Oliver notes, the smoke produced by bushfires can affect people many kilometers from the fire. The reduced air quality particularly affects people with respiratory and heart conditions and can result more people being hospitalized.
