UTS Science is excited to be delivering our popular ‘Who did it’ Forensic science workshops as part of the Schools program:
Workshop: Who did it? Forensic Science
Secondary students: Monday 15 - Tuesday 16 August
Primary students: Wednesday 17 - Friday 19 August
Explore what it’s like to be a forensic investigator and use scientific applications to solve crimes. Students will participate in a mock case scenario and learn how to dust and collect fingerprints, analyse bloodstain spatter and manage a crime scene, with the aim of building a solid case for the court of law.
Supporting the schools education program, we have four UTS Scientists participating in Talking Science sessions. These sessions provide an opportunity for secondary students (Year 7 – 11) to be inspired by STEM researchers and hear about their project/s, passions and careers in relation to the session theme. Each session will be delivered to a live audience and will also be recorded through DART Learning
Scientific Expeditions:
Monday 14 August, session one 9:30am – 10:15am, session two 10:30am – 11:15am.
UTS Science Dr Emma Camp
Scientific Innovations:
Monday 14 August, session one 12:30pm – 1:15pm, session two 1:30pm – 2:15pm.
UTS Science Dr Georgina Meakin
Citizen Science:
Tuesday 15 August, session one 9:30am – 10:15am, session two 10:30am – 11:15am.
UTS Science Professor David Booth
Climate Change Solutions:
Tuesday 15 August, session one 12:30pm – 1:15pm, session two 1:30pm – 2:15pm.

Powerhouse Museum Sydney Science Festival 11-20 August 2023
UTS is the Foundation University Partner of Powerhouse Ultimo and Powerhouse Sydney Science Festival 2023.
Sydney Science Festival is an exciting and accessible program of science events presented by Powerhouse Museum in August. It aims to inspire curiosity about what science is capable of – and criticism too – in a series of interactive performances, talks and exhibits across the city.
The festival theme – Trace – explores the many marks we leave on our environment and how scientists strive to understand the sources and effects of different phenomena.
This year Sydney Science Festival returns to Parramatta for children and families to explore how the Festival theme trace applies to the climate, astronomy, health and medicine. Meet local scientists and join a dialogue about the role of science in the world, participate in hands-on activities and enjoy interactive performances throughout the day.
UTS scientists and engineers will be hosting a number of live demonstrations and experiments. Meet Spot, a state-of-the art robotic dog, try out new robotic arm technology, get up close with microorganisms that inhabit the ocean and delve into quantum physics with UTS theoretical quantum physicist Dr Harley Scammel, UTS Science Climate Change Cluster and join the dialogue about the role science plays in our world.
Saturday 19 August, 10am- 3pm at PHIVE 5 Parramatta Sq, Parramatta NSW
All activities are open to the public, details are available from the Powerhouse Museum.
You can access the full Powerhouse Museum Sydney Science Festival program here.
