Welcome from the Dean
Since it began in 1975, the UTS Faculty of Law has developed a strong reputation for the quality of its legal education. We are known for our academic rigour, practical skills and our ability to adapt to the changing needs of the legal landscape. We understand the impact of technology on the practice of law and we have adapted our curriculum and co-curricular activities to ensure that our graduates will be confident about the future legal environment.
Over the last ten years, the Faculty has become one of the leading law schools – recognised both nationally and internationally, for the quality and impact of its research. Through our research we seek to achieve positive social change in areas of contemporary relevance and need.
Our commitment to social justice permeates all that we do. We are committed to ensuring our students thrive and we offer opportunities for students to access education in a supportive environment to ensure their success. We also emphasise that, as lawyers we have an ongoing responsibility to ensure justice is observed.
Since our first Faculty of Law Strategy in 2013 we have grown and evolved considerably - in our profile and reputation, our broader engagement, our legal education and our research. This new Strategy reflects that growth as well as the UTS 2027 Strategy. Our vision to be a leading law school continues but it is a dynamic ambition and we will continue to innovate and change. However, our values remain fundamentally the same: we are committed to maintaining a strong collegial environment, respecting and valuing the contribution of all members of the Faculty.
