Vote 1 for Caroline
Caroline Homer, Professor of Midwifery and Associate Dean (International and Development) is currently running for President of the Australian College of Midwives.
The Australian College of Midwives (ACM) is the peak, professional organisation for midwives across Australia and is a national, registered not-for-profit organisation. The ACM was founded nationally in 1984, when midwifery associations in a number of states and territories came together to create a national peak body for Australian midwives.
There are currently more than 5000 ACM members across the country.
The ACM provides a unified voice for the midwifery profession, supports midwives to reach their full potential, and is a key informant for professional practice and education standards.
For the first time, the membership of the ACM will elect the president. Previously, each stare and territory voted a member to the Board of Directors and these 8 members chose the President. This time, the 5000 members can vote for their President.
Caroline has been campaigning hard for this role, speaking with midwives across the country, face to face, on email and through her facebook page – ‘Caroline Homer 4 ACM President’.
The vote will be on 24 October and postal votes have already been made.
This is an exciting time for Australian midwifery and for UTS!
