This presentation provides an account of the final ten years of the successfully concluded polio eradication efforts in India. The talk highlights issues critical to the success of the program including vaccine innovations and overcoming social resistance. In this talk Prof Dasgupta will share some of his personal insights from the program as well as outline a number of ongoing challenges including emergency responses to Vaccine Derived Polio Virus (VDPV) outbreaks and the introduction of the Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV).
