Quantum computing: future-defining technology
The Centre for Quantum Software and Information (UTS: QSI) is one of four university centres making up the new Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA).
The Academy is the initiative of University of Technology Sydney (UTS), University of Sydney, University of NSW and Macquarie University with $15.4 million backing from the NSW Government. This funding, combined with current university and future industry support, brings the total current investment in the Academy to $35 million.
Professor Michael Bremner from QSI says Sydney has an incredibly strong quantum computing community, with deep expertise across all areas – from the physics of qubit fabrication all the way through to software and application development.
The Sydney Quantum Academy will help to cement us as the world’s premier destination for quantum computing education, research and commercial development.
The Academy will develop the industry, attract talent and investment in Australia and internationally, and promote an understanding about quantum computing, simulation and software for local and global companies that want to use these emergent technologies.
