Welcome to the Animal Logic Academy

The Academy is a unique collaboration between the University of Technology Sydney and one of Australia’s leading animation studios, Animal Logic. We’re looking for talented and passionate creative and technical students who want to specialise in specific areas of animation and visual effects production. With Australia continuing to develop an international reputation for world-class production, it’s an exciting time to be pushing the boundaries of what animation and visualisation can achieve in creating new worlds, experiences, research, careers and opportunities.

How to apply

[Alex Weight, Creative Lead, talks to camera]:
The Animal Logic Academy at UTS is a master's degree in Animation and Visualisation. We focus on getting students up to speed to enter the industry, giving them real-world knowledge and what to do practically once they enter industry.
[Peter Tran, Previs/Layout Student, talks to camera]:
The one thing I've really enjoyed at the ALA is working through challenging problems as a group. We work just like a real production house. It's really fulfilling and rewarding to see the end result.

We are allowed to try new things that we weren't even imagining before that we could be capable of doing. This environment is to develop those skills and to learn to work together in a team.

Specialising at the Academy

Step 1: Nominate a specialisation

Select one of our 11 specialisations. You can find more information on choosing a specialisation and an explanation of each one in the video below.

Step 2: Prepare your portfolio

Your portfolio of work should demonstrate your skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for the specialisation in which you would like to launch your career.
