The construction industry offers a wide variety of career paths and working situations for the Bachelor of Construction Project Management graduate. It is important to understand those professional disciplines in the global context. That broader perspective also helps students see the relevance of more specific subjects during the course of their studies – construction technology and risk management, for example. This is a 1st year assessment task that requires students to research the global construction industry and prepare a fully referenced academic report on that research. Research is to include global industry statistics, the influence of construction on the global economy, the major national/regional construction markets around the world, the major global contractors, major industry trends, key issues/challenges facing the industry and likely future directions of the industry. Students also interview an experienced industry practitioner to ensure the currency and relevance of their research.
