Master of Architecture grad wins Glenn Murcutt Student Prize
UTS Master of Architecture graduate Rhiannon Brownbill has been awarded the 2023 Bluescope Glenn Murcutt Student Prize, a biennial award that recognises excellence in response to place, technology and Australian culture.
Rhiannon was awarded for her project Burudi Gurad, Burudi Ora (Healthy Country, Healthy People) by a three-person jury of eminent architects and Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) office holders. Burudi Gurad, Burudi Ora was Rhiannon's thesis project for her UTS Master of Architecture, and explores how people might work, live and heal with Country, beyond the framework of traditional Western medicine.
The jury particularly noted that they were 'delighted that Brownbill is currently working with the health sector to explore how the findings of the project could transform contemporary practice.'
Eagle-eyed readers may also recognise Rhiannon as a face of UTS postgraduate architecture, having featured in social media and an online story describing her experience of the Master of Architecture degree.
All at UTS School of Architecture and the wider university congratulate Rhiannon on this latest achievement.
