3D printed air diffusion system SR2 wins more cool plaudits
UTS School of Architecture and BVN Architecture have won the 'Green Building Material/Product Award' at the Australian Sustainability Awards for the Systems Reef 2 (SR2) air system. This win is the latest recognition in a growing set of awards and acknowledgements for this innovative 3D-printed air conditioning solution.
Judges were clearly impressed by the patented system that can be printed in a bespoke configuration to optimally cool a given space, and which replaces the conventional set of ducts and vents with a design that features fine pores along its structure.
The result is significantly reduced energy requirements and hence running costs. What's more, SR2 is printed using recycled PETG plastics and is itself recyclable at end of life.
