Vivid is back and UTS FASS creatives and thought leaders are all over it.
There are lots of UTS activities, faces and spaces appearing at VIVID2022.

Floating World - Darling Quarter
INFO
Shimmering worlds evoking the wonder of imaginary places. Here, renowned local musicians team up with digital visual artists to create an ever-changing sonic painting. The visions are enhanced by an atmospheric soundscape delivered through IOSONO’S revolutionary spatial audio rendering system. Three five-minute sequences combine in a 15-minute loop. A collaboration with Peewee Ferris, Rainbow Chan, Carla Zimbler, Jonti and Jono Ma, BABEKÜHL and the UTS Animal Logic Academy.

Audible Live: Stories Made To Be Heard - Vivid Ideas Exchange - UTS, The Great Hall

If we want the future of AI to be a force for good, it’s time to ask questions such as: can robots have rights; what if a self-driving car kills someone; and, is Australia at risk of becoming a surveillance state?" "Reconciliation NSW’s signature anti-racism event exposes white privilege and colour blindness by asking hard questions – albeit irreverently. What do racists look like? Am I one? OMG, I do think that! This fun session is part game show – think Hard Quiz-style trivia meets Bingo – and part comedic debate with music and poetry mixed in for good measure. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and be empowered to say something if you see something, because you're not racist!" Soul of the City: Australian Museum X Vivid Ideas

"Creativity beats at the heart of every great city – Sydney is no exception. Come and hear from cultural connectors Stephen Page (Artistic Director Bangarra Dance Theatre), Sara Mansour (Co-Founder of Bankstown Poetry Slam) and Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran (Visual Artist) about the stories that define us, bring us together, and sometimes tell uncomfortable truths. Katarina Kroslakova, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief at T Australia: The New York Times Style Magazine will moderate this session. DJ Jonny Hawkins shares their love of eccentric characters who add soul to a city before segueing into DJing for the night.

If we accept that cities can’t protect us from natural disasters, can we make our cities and towns work better with the forces of nature and climate change? If our city’s competitive advantage is to be its liveability and attractiveness to a highly educated workforce, maybe we need to focus more on health and resilience and less on maximising real estate value.
