The Voice Referendum and Schools: What Teachers Need to Know
Join a panel of academics and students to discuss how The Voice Referendum can be taught to students.
UTS and the Social and Citizenship Education Association of Australia (SCEAA) are proud to announce their panel discussion The Voice Referendum and Schools: What Teachers Need to Know.
The panel seeks to outline and discuss the ways in which the upcoming referendum on The Voice to Parliament offers teachers a chance to engage students with ideas around;
- democracy and democratic representation
- referendums and the Australian consitution
- the responsibility of citizens to vote.
The panel will seek to find effective teaching strategies that empower teachers to invite students to have robust, respectful and constructive explorations and discussions of the referendum.
The events features Dr Amy Thunig, Prof. Chris Matthews, Peter Criticos and UTS students, all providing their insights.
The event will be run Wednesday 27 September at RES Hub, located at UTS Central on Level 5 in Building 2 (CB02.05.250), adjacent to the UTS Reading Room. Register for either in-person or online attendance via the links provided.
