National collaborators
Dr Steven Bowe
Dr Steven Bowe is based at Swinburne University of Technology. He is involved in research and PhD supervision of students within the Faculty of Life and Social Sciences and within the Brain and Psychological Sciences Research Centre and the Centre for Human Psychopharmacology. He developed an interest in complementary and integrative medicine (CIM) through working with NorphCAM’s Professor David Sibbritt and is currently working on a paper with Professor Sibbritt exploring the uptake and use of CIM in the Australian Longitudinal Study of Women's Health.
Dr Assa Doron
Dr Assa Doron is an Anthropologist based at Australian National University and is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow. His work is mainly focused on South Asia. Dr Doron’s research interests include development studies, the cultural politics of marginalized groups, media, gender and health. He is currently the director of the South Asia Research Institute at the College of Asia and the Pacific.
Associate Professor Stephen Jan
Associate Professor Stephen Jan is a Senior Health Economist at The George Institute for International Health. His research interests include health systems research as well as economic evaluation alongside clinical and health studies.
Professor Parker Magin
Professor Parker Magin is a General Practitioner, Medical Educator at General Practice Training Valley to Coast, and Conjoint Professor, University of Newcastle. His PhD studies in the psychiatric aspects of acne, psoriasis and eczema led to an interest in patients' use of CIM therapies in skin disease and the psychosocial context of CIM use.
Dr Deidre McLaughlin
Dr Deirdre McLaughlin is a Senior Research Fellow with the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women’s Health at the School of Population Health, University of Queensland. Deirdre’s research interests include rural and urban women’s use of CIM, CIM use in older Australian women, and the use of yoga to manage chronic conditions among young and mid-aged women.
Professor Michael Weir
Professor Michael Weir is the Associate Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Law at Bond University.
Michael has broad professional experience as a solicitor in private legal practice in commercial and property law. In his academic career, which commenced in 1990, Michael has published extensively on land law and complementary medicine and the law. Michael has a research interest in medicine and the law with a focus on complementary and alternative medicine and law and ethics.
