UTS House
UTS House is at the centre of SXSW Sydney activity, hosting a selection of panel discussions, workshops, networking events and talks from leading academics, industry professionals and experts. Located in the UTS Business School at the heart of Tech Central, UTS House will showcase of innovation and emerging ideas, providing opportunities for key partners to connect across one of Australia's leading innovation districts.

Get your festival fix through all the action on the Goods Line throughout the week. Walk the Line and explore the various activations, pop-up busker hubs to experience all things SXSW Sydney. Make your way further into the festival hub at Tumbalong Park from there.
Run the Precinct with UTS Run Club

Keen to see a bit more of the Tech Central precinct? Join the UTS Run Club for a run around Darling Quarter, take in the sites, and see what makes Sydney the most livable city. Enjoy a coffee with us at the end at the Terrace Café. Running every Wednesday morning, the group splits up into 2 – 3 pace groups to accommodate all levels.

Live music, tech showcases, talks and best of all... it's FREE! Tumbalong Park is your place to get outdoors and get a taste of SXSW Sydney. The main stage will be activated throughout the week with a bit of everything from new artists to public talks. UTS Robotics, Rockets and Motorsport Showcase and a cooking demonstration with a difference with Yiying Lu and celebrity Chef Martin Yan are among the highlights!

Navantia UTS Joint Institute - Navy training innovation through gamification
UTS Rapido is delivering research and development initiatives to create a series of immersive learning experiences designed to boost user engagement, motivation and training outcomes for the Royal Australian Navy. This is a collaborative partnership between UTS and Navantia Australia, with a specific focus on developing innovative digital solutions for Australia’s maritime industry, prioritising national sovereignty.
Come have a go at this VR experience, and try to navigate your way through this simulated emergency.

Superwood: Computational design, robotic fabrication for decarbonisation
The combination of computational design and robotic fabrication allows for the production of new material systems that create climate-positive outcomes and memorable places, objects and experiences. These works have been created through a collaboration between architecture and engineering students, evolving their designs towards the production of four 1:1 built demonstrators.

The Future of Fashion: Creativity meets technology

Future Fashion: Creativity meets technology, brings together the experimental work of UTS Fashion and Textiles Design Honours students of 2023, in a video and selected look from each of their collections. These works explore AI aesthetics with artisanal weaving, Jacquard designs and 3D Knitting, representing the future of fashion.

Re-fines Ceramic Sculptures
The works on display showcase the diversity and application of Re-Fines, a 100% circular ceramic material made from recycled glass fines. Re-Fines offers application opportunities for industries manufacturing products from ceramics. The Material Ecologies Design Lab has a provisional patent for Re-Fines and is seeking industry partners to work with for further development.

SHEEP is an experimental, interactive installation in two parts, hybridising film and game elements to execute its absurd story. Use the arrow keys on the floor pad to progress and select options displayed on-screen.

Project Xeta

One of the more prominent parts of AI is the imagery that can be created through prompts that describe and produces images that could easily be convinced as art. In Project Xeta, the use of a uniquely designed electronic synthesizer and word prompts generate images that respond to sound.

Welcome to synaesthesia – a neurodivergence that merges your senses.
As advances in sound design and sound reception continue to grow, so does the potential for understanding how sound is perceived and understood. As more and more sound installations combine aural and visual experiences an inevitable next step is combining more than two senses when creating experiences.
Come touch all the silverware and crockery on the table. What do you hear?
