The UTS Law Faculty Tech + Social Justice Week was an invaluable introduction to the relationship between the ever-evolving technology and its potential to shape the legal industry. I was able to listen, learn and challenge my perspective on the integral role technology has in improving legal advocacy and action on some very important, and wicked, problems. This has greatly impacted my understanding of the law in the future and how advancing technologies can be designed to make positive and powerful change.
Importantly, with rapid technological advancement and its integration into our day to day lives, negative consequences arise and perpetuate systems of discrimination, complexities in addressing crime and enhance the digital divide. With greater access and use of technology, there comes a greater responsibility; whether that’s to educate youth on e-safety, reduce the digital divide or scrutinise the use and data input of AI, each of us have our own role to play.
