Statement of enrolment / student verification letter
A statement of enrolment, otherwise known as a student verification letter, is an official University letter, which states:
- your name and student number,
- your commencement date and expected year of course completion
- the course and subjects that you are currently enrolled in, and
- your current attendance pattern (i.e. full-time or part time).
You can request to have your current subject enrolment listed on the statement as well.
A statement of enrolment may be required by Centrelink for students applying to receive the Youth Allowance.
Domestic students can request a statement of enrolment by completing a request for a statement of enrolment online. An administrative charge is payable.
Note: Domestic students with an active fee sanction cannot be issued a statement of enrolment.
International students can request a student verification letter by completing the online form. You may need this letter for a variety of reasons, including when you:
- Travel outside Australia
- Renew your passport
- Invite guests to visit you in Australia
- Manage tax and banking matters
- Prove your eligible work dates
The letter will be issued free of charge provided you have no overdue fees, supplied your Australian contact details on My Student Admin, successfully completed the Consent Matters Training, and enrolled in the required study load. Please note that this is not a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Domestic research students can contact the Graduate Research School to obtain an enrolment advice.
Jury Service Letter
If you've been summoned for jury duty during a teaching session, you may apply for the Jury Service Letter to confirm your enrolment status at the University.
Your application will only be processed if you are enrolled in subjects within the period of which you have been summoned for jury duty.
Statement of course completion
A statement of course completion is a letter confirming that you have completed the necessary components of your degree and that you have been approved by the Faculty Board, and are eligible to graduate, or have successfully graduated. It will state:
- your name, date of birth and student number
- the name of the course that you have completed
- your commencement date and conferral date (if applicable)
Statements will only be issued after the official release of results of your final session of study.
Domestic students can request a statement of course completion by completing a request for a statement of course completion. An administrative charge is payable, and you should allow three working days for processing.
International students can request a statement of course completion by completing the online form. You may need this letter for a variety of reasons, including when you:
- Invite guests to attend your graduation ceremony in Australia
- Change your student visa to a visitor visa in order to stay for your graduation ceremony
- Apply for a post-study work visa (if eligible)
The letter will be issued free of charge provided you have no outstanding fees, supplied your Unique Student Identifier to UTS (if applicable), and your enrolment status is set to passed on the UTS student system.
Please note, you may advise third parties to verify that you have graduated from a course at UTS through the Qualification Verification Service. This is a free service.
Note: Domestic and international students with active sanctions, such as Consent Matters or Unique Student Identifier (USI), may not be able to receive a statement of course completion.
Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for international students
If your student visa will expire before you complete your studies, you will need to apply for a new CoE and a new student visa.
International students can request a new CoE by completing the online CoE request form. This process is not automatic – CoE can only be issued provided that you are enrolled in the required study load, you have no outstanding fees and your international student status is satisfactory.
For further information on applying for a new student visa, please read the information about Student visa (opens an external site) on the Department of Home Affairs website.
