UTS Humanitarian Scholarship
The UTS Humanitarian Scholarship supports commencing undergraduate students who are holders of asylum seeker bridging visas or temporary protection visas, and who are unable to access a Commonwealth Supported Place or student loan schemes.
The Scholarship provides tuition fees and a minimum financial contribution of $1,000 per year towards learning and living expenses.
A maximum of twenty two (22) recipients will be awarded the Scholarship subject to the available funding pool each year. Of these:
- Sixteen (16) are reserved for students commencing a UTS undergraduate degree and have temporary asylum seeker or refugee residence status and hold a Bridging Visa E or A (and has made an application for a Protection Visa), or Temporary Protection Visa (subclass 785), or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (subclass 790).
- Four (4) are reserved for students commencing a UTS undergraduate degree and have a temporary humanitarian concern visa (subclass 786).
- Two (2) are reserved for students commencing a UTS postgraduate degree and have a temporary humanitarian concern visa (subclass 786).
To be eligible for the scholarship students must:
- Apply for admission to UTS;
- Submit a UTS Humanitarian Scholarship application form;
- Have a NSW HSC or Australian equivalent, or UTS College negotiated pathway;
- Be accepted to study at UTS;
- Be commencing the first year of a UTS undergraduate degree OR UTS postgraduate degree (if they hold a Temporary Humanitarian Concern Visa, subclass 786);
- Be enrolled full-time.
