Lianyang Ma is a PhD candidate from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and currently, a joint PhD student with the Centre for Quantum Computation and Intelligent Systems (QCIS), Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), supervised by Prof Dacheng Tao. He joined QCIS in May 2012.

He received his MSc degree in 2009 from the School of Computer Science and Technology, Xidian University, and a BS in 2006 from the College of Information Technology, Shenyang Normal University, China. Lianyang began his PhD studies in September 2009 at the Institute of Image Communication and Information Processing, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, supervised by Prof Xiaokang Yang.

His research is mainly focused on surveillance video analysis, computer vision and machine learning.
