Australian researchers could face jail if they collaborate with or share their scientific expertise with others both in Australia and outside, under amendments to existing legislation.
Scientists are up in arms over the draft legislation, which is designed to protect intellectual property on new technologies stemming from the AUKUS nuclear submarines deal falling into the hands of foreign militaries other than the US and UK.
