The Chinese Communist Party’s top diplomat has warned Australia over its regular and long-running deployment of navy ships to the South China Sea, as he defended a Chinese warship’s actions that left an Australian navy diver injured.
Liu Jianchao, the head of the Communist Party’s International Department, said Australian deployments to the region were seen as an attempt to “contain China”, and maintained China had done nothing to harm the sailor.
