China’s premier congratulates PM, ending years-long freeze

Tokyo | China’s Premier Li Keqiang has congratulated Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his election victory in a move experts say is a significant gesture but will not automatically lead to a reset in diplomatic relations.

Mr Li sent Mr Albanese a congratulatory message on Monday, ending a two-year freeze on communications between leaders and senior ministers of the two countries. He said he would be willing to work with the new government.
