Tokyo | One of China’s top diplomats and a former ambassador to Australia says Xi Jinping’s government will not try to force Australia to choose sides between Beijing and Washington despite rising global tensions.
“China has no intention to force Australia to choose against any other country. We disagree with the idea of dividing the world among powers like what the world was like a century ago,” Madame Fu Ying, a senior Chinese lawmaker, said on Wednesday.
