There are signs the relationship between the United States and China may be improving after the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

It was the first visit to China by a top US official in 5 years.

Relations between the two countries in recent times have been soured by trade tensions, Beijing's claims over Taiwan and the shooting down of what the Americans allege was a Chinese spy balloon earlier this year.
