Thesis Title: The Australian citizenship test, governmentality and becoming the migrant citizen

Maria's study explores how the concept of becoming an Australian citizen is produced in and through the discourses about the Australian citizenship test. Theorised as a technology of government, the test both enables and constrains the citizen-in-the making and challenges contemporary views on who we are as Australians.

Other Research Interests:
Maria also researches Australian history, national identity and TESOL.
